Vinod Pandir is a multi-talented individual who is always up for a challenge. At work , he is a highly skilled and experienced professional in the oil and gas industry in Kuwait. But by post work , he transforms into a gifted musician, sharing his passion for music with others through teaching and performance.

As, IWA Super Singer 2021 Winner, Vinod’s vast Musical talent is not limited to proficient in a variety of instruments, including the keyboard, piano and Harmonium ,but he is an accomplished singer and composer. Vinod’s passion for music is evident in his dedication to his craft.

In addition to his musical talents, Vinod is also a gifted organizer and event planner. He is the driving force behind many of the Upkar EC’s successful events. Vinod is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that his events are well-planned and executed. He is also a great team player and is always willing to help out his fellow EC members. Vinod Pandir is a valuable asset to Team Upkar. We are lucky to have him as part of our community.

Upkar Association Kuwait is one of the oldest and most vibrant community associations in Kuwait. We are a family of over 100 Indian families who are united by our love for India and our shared values.

Our mission is to provide a platform for our members to connect with each other, celebrate our culture, and give back to the community. We do this by organizing a variety of events and activities throughout the year, including:

We are open to all Indian families living in Kuwait. Membership is just KD 5 for the registration fee and KD 30 per year. We also charge subsidized food costs (per person) at our events.

Upkar Dandiya Night

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the prominent Association of Indians formed in Kuwait, had its Dandiya celebrations on October 4th 2019. Upkar Association celebrates a number of festivals and other events where all its members can join in to meet and celebrate together.

The evening was celebrated with the traditional Dandiya and Garba.

Upkar members and guests turned up in large numbers to enjoy the evening. All were dressed in traditional Indian wear and accessories. There were prizes for Best dressed couple, Best dressed girl, Best dressed boy, in addition to a number of interesting spot prizes. There was even a prize for the most creatively decorated Dandiya! A lucky draw by our sponsor, Al Mulla Exchange was also conducted. The winners got gifts from Al Mulla Exchange.

The evening included a number of Indian street food items and mouth watering delicacies- available throughout the event. As one of the members put it ít ‘the food was so delicious and mouth watering, that it felt that he was having it in Delhi Chandni Chowk or in Aligarh food stalls’!!!

The new Upkar Executive Committee for 2019-2020 was also introduced to the members.

Upkar has been regularly organizing for its members events and celebrations including Holi, Diwali, Lohri, Sports Day etc. Social events such as Yoga Day and Blood Donation Camp have also been organized. Earlier in 2019, Upkar members have enjoyed event such as Lohri , Holi and a day out at a Kuwait Water Park.

Upkar Executive Committee is hosting their next mega event -the Diwali party on November 1st, 2019.

Upkar Diwali Night 2018

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the modestly largeAssociation of Indians formed in Kuwait,  celebrated its Diwali Night Grand Party on 9thNovember, 2018 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Kuwait. Diwali is traditionallycelebrated as the Festival of Lights where people meet their near and dear onesto exchange festive greetings.

The event was presided over by the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, Mr. Krishan Kumar Pahel. 

Despite the stormy weather, Upkar members turned up in large numbers to get together and celebrate the festival. All the members were dressed up for the occasion, and exchanged festive greetings- it felt as though everyone was in India!

Upkar Parivar members and invited guests participatedin various Diwali themed games. Upkar gave away a number of spot prizes duringthe celebration and also felicitated talented children who achievedmilestones in academics and other activities. There was also a Lucky Draw with a prize of a silver coin!

Upkar Celebrate Dandiya Raas

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the leading Association of Indians formed in Kuwait, had the honor of holding it’s first ever Navratri Dandiya Raas on September 29, 2017 in Rajdhani palace, Khaitan, Kuwait.

The festival symbolizes get-together with near & dear ones, playing with Dandiya sticks and Garba dance wherein both the forms of ethnic dances symbolize the beginning of the festive season in India. The event had begun with an introductory session followed by games and a variety of dances such as Dandiya & Garba. A plethora of spot prizes were distributed for best dressed couple, adults and kids in ethnic wear along-with the best dancers who added to the enthusiasm in the evening.

Upkar Executive Committee is hosting their next mega event to be the Diwali party on October 27, 2017. We shall also hold a box cricket, family picnic, holi and children’s talent show during 2017-2018.

Welcome Back and Upkar Event 2017-18

Dear Members,
We take the opportunity of welcoming the Upkar members from their vacations and hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. Whilst we are gearing up for the new session to begin, we hereby invite nominations from interested members to join the Executive committee. Please send your nominations for EC to upkarpost@yahoo.com or upkarpost@gmail.com at the earliest. Last date of receiving the nomination is 15th October 2017.
We plan to hold the following events during the forthcoming year –
1) October 27, 2017 – Diwali & AGM – Whilst we believe the AGM shall be held in September, since Diwali is following in October, it was decided to collaborate the 2 events. An official mailer on Diwali event will be sent shortly, however we request you to block your dates for October 27, 2017 in the evening for the event.
2) December 2017 – Upkar Box cricket league – After the stupendous success and repeated demands from our members, we are scheduled to hold the cricket league in the similar fashion as held earlier in December owing to a favorable weather.
3) January 2018 – Upkar Sports Day & picnic – The new calendar year shall witness the annual family picnic wherein the respective date shall be finalized later.
4) March 2018 – Upkar Holi – We shall hold the flagship event on the weekend falling close to the auspicious day bringing all the members together to enjoy the festival of colors.
5) Drawing Competition (for Kids)/Upkar Talent Show.
We also wish to bring to your kind notice that the in the current environment we are witnessing an increase in expenses in carrying out any event as expenses pertaining to food, venue, decoration etc have moved up significantly in the last 2 years. However, we have decided to continue with KD 25/- renewal fee for this year. As you are aware we run the association on members contribution and sponsorship. Therefore, we request all the members to come upfront to renew the memberships timely and also request you to arrange for sponsorship from your sources; this shall enable us to continue the improvement in the quality of the events and have more memorable programs for the Upkar family.
We also encourage members to provide us innovative ideas for more different community events, so that we can increase members participation, please send your ideas, feedback and complaints to upkarpost@yahoo.com.

Upkar Cricket League 2016

Dear Upkar Members, we are pleased to introduce Upkar Cricket Leage 2016 version. This year we formed Cricket Organizing Committee (selected among  UPKAR Members) , which has taken pains in deciding rules, arrange practice, selecting captains and forming teams.  The organization committee has played crucial role in UCL 2016. UCL 2016

UCL 2016 Cricket Playing Rules (download ucl-playing-rules-2016 )

  1. Team
  • There shall be four (4) playing teams. Team members shall be selected from the draw to be held and organized by the organizing panel.
  • Playing schedule as hereafter mentione
  • Each team can consist of up to thirteen (13) players who all may field on rotation basis. Only eleven (11) players declared by team captain, before toss, will participate in batting and bowlin Any player listed in playing eleven must field for minimum two (2) overs during the match for his / her turn to bat or bowl.
  • One (1) player could be interchanged between the teams with sole discretion of Captain of each team. The same shall be intimated to organizers within two (2) days of team’s announcement.
  • Color Jersey Shirt is compulsory uniform for all players shall be used.

 

2.  Innings

Each innings constitute of 10 overs.

  • Each innings is to be completed within Forty (40) minutes with a Ten (10) minute interval between the innings.
  • Each innings shall cease after all players but one, are out, with a maximum of ten (10) wickets or the maximum 10 overs have been bowle
  • Penalty shall apply as explained hereafter for non-maintenance of playing timings.

3.      Batters

  • A batter must retire after scoring 21 runs. The idea being to provide a fair opportunity to all players participation.
  • A retired batter may resume an innings only after all other players are dismissed or retired.
  • Retired batters are to resume their innings as per their captain decision.
  • A batter must face minimum three (3) balls before being forced retire excluding retired due to injury.

4.        Bowlers

Minimum of 4 bowlers shall be used. A bowler can bowl a maximum of 3 overs.

 

5.        Wide Balls

  • Judged as per normal rules of cricket.
  • Wide counts as Four (4) runs plus the number of runs run off i No extra ball shall be bowled for wide ball.

An inning must finish in 60 balls including any wide or No-ball.

 

6.        No- Balls

  • Normal rules for no balls shall apply and;
  • A full toss above the waist is a no-ball.
  • A pitched ball that bounces above the batter’s shoulders when the batter is in his/her normal batting stance is a no- ball.
  • If the ball hitting the pitch and reaches to the batter in two or more drops, it is a no ball.
  • A No Ball is counted as Four (4) runs plus the number of runs run off it. No extra ball shall be bowled for no- ball.

There shall be no free hit for any No-ball called. An inning must finish in 60 balls including any wide or No-ball.

  • Any further runs taken on No-ball called, a batter can only be dismissed by run out.

 

7.          Field Restrictions

Only Five (5) fielders can field on the leg side at any point of time.

  • Match shall be played with Hard Tennis Ball.
  • All games will start as per attached schedule provided and captains should strictly follow the timings.
  • A grace time of 15 minutes shall be provided above the schedule start time, failing to which roll over will be given to opposite team.

9.        Points

For a win          4 points

For a Loss        No Points

 

  1. In case of Tie Match, the result will be declared as follows: Every Run 1 point e. 50 runs scored = 50 points Wicket lost 5 points (deduction)

Note: If winner could not be decided with above provision, a super half over (3 balls) shall be played.

11.     Penalty:

First bowling team (say Team A) will bat for, during their batting inning, only number of balls they bowled from their quota of 10 overs in 40 min. to Team B and chase the runs scored by Team B in first 10 overs.

If during second inning, if the bowling side (Team B) fails to bowl their revised quota in 40 min., an average per ball scored by them shall be deducted from their score for the numbers of all beyond their allotted time and Team A score shall be compared with this revised score of Team B.

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the modestly large Association of Indians formed in Kuwait, had the honor of holding it’s Diwali Mela on November 4, 2016 at Rezzayat Villa, Salmiya, Kuwait.

The festival symbolizes get-together with near & dear ones, lighting of lamps and exchanging gifts. The event had begun with the lighting of the lamps by EC members and felicitation of students from the Upkar family for performing well in the previous academic sessions. There was an array of games for both elders and children witnessed by a crowd of 350 people along with raffle draws, singing performances and followed by dinner.

Upkar Executive Committee shall be shortly announcing the dates for their next mega event to be the “Upkar Cricket League” during the remainder of 2016. We shall also hold a family picnic, Holy Celebration and children’s talent show of various forms during 2017 and prior to the next AGM.
