Upkar Cricket League 2016

Dear Upkar Members, we are pleased to introduce Upkar Cricket Leage 2016 version. This year we formed Cricket Organizing Committee (selected among  UPKAR Members) , which has taken pains in deciding rules, arrange practice, selecting captains and forming teams.  The organization committee has played crucial role in UCL 2016. Here are the names of Organization Committee.

UCL 2016

UCL 2016 Cricket Playing Rules (download ucl-playing-rules-2016 )

  1. Team
  • There shall be four (4) playing teams. Team members shall be selected from the draw to be held and organized by the organizing panel.
  • Playing schedule as hereafter mentione
  • Each team can consist of up to thirteen (13) players who all may field on rotation basis. Only eleven (11) players declared by team captain, before toss, will participate in batting and bowlin Any player listed in playing eleven must field for minimum two (2) overs during the match for his / her turn to bat or bowl.
  • One (1) player could be interchanged between the teams with sole discretion of Captain of each team. The same shall be intimated to organizers within two (2) days of team’s announcement.
  • Color Jersey Shirt is compulsory uniform for all players shall be used.

 

2.  Innings

Each innings constitute of 10 overs.

  • Each innings is to be completed within Forty (40) minutes with a Ten (10) minute interval between the innings.
  • Each innings shall cease after all players but one, are out, with a maximum of ten (10) wickets or the maximum 10 overs have been bowle
  • Penalty shall apply as explained hereafter for non-maintenance of playing timings.

3.      Batters

  • A batter must retire after scoring 21 runs. The idea being to provide a fair opportunity to all players participation.
  • A retired batter may resume an innings only after all other players are dismissed or retired.
  • Retired batters are to resume their innings as per their captain decision.
  • A batter must face minimum three (3) balls before being forced retire excluding retired due to injury.

4.        Bowlers

Minimum of 4 bowlers shall be used. A bowler can bowl a maximum of 3 overs.

 

5.        Wide Balls

  • Judged as per normal rules of cricket.
  • Wide counts as Four (4) runs plus the number of runs run off i No extra ball shall be bowled for wide ball.

An inning must finish in 60 balls including any wide or No-ball.

 

6.        No- Balls

  • Normal rules for no balls shall apply and;
  • A full toss above the waist is a no-ball.
  • A pitched ball that bounces above the batter’s shoulders when the batter is in his/her normal batting stance is a no- ball.
  • If the ball hitting the pitch and reaches to the batter in two or more drops, it is a no ball.
  • A No Ball is counted as Four (4) runs plus the number of runs run off it. No extra ball shall be bowled for no- ball.

There shall be no free hit for any No-ball called. An inning must finish in 60 balls including any wide or No-ball.

  • Any further runs taken on No-ball called, a batter can only be dismissed by run out.

 

7.          Field Restrictions

Only Five (5) fielders can field on the leg side at any point of time.

  • Match shall be played with Hard Tennis Ball.
  • All games will start as per attached schedule provided and captains should strictly follow the timings.
  • A grace time of 15 minutes shall be provided above the schedule start time, failing to which roll over will be given to opposite team.

9.        Points

For a win          4 points

For a Loss        No Points

 

  1. In case of Tie Match, the result will be declared as follows: Every Run 1 point e. 50 runs scored = 50 points Wicket lost 5 points (deduction)

Note: If winner could not be decided with above provision, a super half over (3 balls) shall be played.

11.     Penalty:

First bowling team (say Team A) will bat for, during their batting inning, only number of balls they bowled from their quota of 10 overs in 40 min. to Team B and chase the runs scored by Team B in first 10 overs.

If during second inning, if the bowling side (Team B) fails to bowl their revised quota in 40 min., an average per ball scored by them shall be deducted from their score for the numbers of all beyond their allotted time and Team A score shall be compared with this revised score of Team B.

Coverage : UPKAR Diwali Celebration

Upkar Association Kuwait, one of the modestly large Association of Indians formed in Kuwait, had the honor of holding it’s Diwali Mela on November 4, 2016 at Rezzayat Villa, Salmiya, Kuwait.

The festival symbolizes get-together with near & dear ones, lighting of lamps and exchanging gifts. The event had begun with the lighting of the lamps by EC members and felicitation of students from the Upkar family for performing well in the previous academic sessions. There was an array of games for both elders and children witnessed by a crowd of 350 people along with raffle draws, singing performances and followed by dinner.

Upkar Executive Committee shall be shortly announcing the dates for their next mega event to be the “Upkar Cricket League” during the remainder of 2016. We shall also hold a family picnic, Holy Celebration and children’s talent show of various forms during 2017 and prior to the next AGM.
